Tweed Valley Rollers Code of Conduct

Welcome to Tweed Valley Rollers! Our team is committed to providing a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behaviour, as well as the procedures for addressing any issues that may arise. By participating in our team, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a safe and welcoming community.

At Tweed Valley Rollers, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully. We welcome people of all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and experiences. Our goal is to foster a supportive and diverse community where everyone can thrive both on and off the track. Together, we are stronger, united in our love for roller derby.

 

General Behaviour

  • Respect: Treat all members, officials, opponents, and spectators with respect. Offensive, discriminatory, or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

  • Sportsmanship: Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times, whether in practice, competition, or other team-related activities.

  • Safety: Prioritize the safety of yourself and others. Follow all safety guidelines and protocols during practices and matches.

 

Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy

Tweed Valley Rollers has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and harassment of any kind, including but not limited to:

  • Racism

  • Sexism

  • Homophobia

  • Transphobia

  • Ableism

  • Ageism

  • Any other form of discrimination

All members are expected to contribute to an environment free from harassment, bullying, and intimidation.

 

Conflict Resolution

If a conflict arises, members are encouraged to resolve issues respectfully and constructively. If you need assistance, please contact a team leader or designated conflict resolution officer. Our process includes:

  • Reporting: Confidentially report any incidents of misconduct or breaches of the code of conduct.

  • Investigation: The team will investigate all reports thoroughly and impartially.

  • Resolution: Appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings, which may include mediation, counseling, or disciplinary measures.

 

Commitment to Training and Development

Tweed Valley Rollers is committed to the continuous development of our members. We provide training opportunities, workshops, and resources to help everyone improve their skills and knowledge, both on and off the track. We encourage all members to take advantage of these opportunities and support one another’s growth.

 

Community Engagement

Our team believes in giving back to the community. Members are encouraged to participate in community service projects, outreach programs, and events that promote roller derby and support our local area.

This Code of Conduct will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Members will be notified of any updates or changes. Your feedback is always welcome to help us improve our policies and practices.
